Spank Dance company in collaboration with the Austin Figurative Gallery featuring: Mari Akita, Ellen Bartel, Caroline Sutton Clark (Austin) AUSTIN FIGURATIVE GALLERY APRIL 25th @ 8pm TICKETS: Free (limited seating) DANCE BYOB This dance is an improvisation and can be as short at 20 minutes or as long as 60 minutes. Butoh is the dance of transformation. Butoh is a contemporary avant-garde dance form which originated in Japan and which was first performed there in 1959. It combines dance, theater, improvisation and influences of Japanese traditional performing arts with German _Expressionist dance (Neue Tanz) and performance art to create a unique performing art form that is both controversial and universal in its _expression.
